What kids do

“An alien just landed and wants to learn how we say hello. Teach it!”

  1. Hello in words (any language)
  2. Hello without words
  3. Draw yourself saying hello to the alien
  4. My favorite hello is… because…

How to run it

  • Invite kids who speak other languages to teach the class a hello.
  • Hellos without words: wave, high five, bow, fist bump, smile.
  • Pick a class “hello of the week”.

Talk about it

  • How does a warm hello make someone feel?
  • Why do people greet each other differently?
  • How would you say hello to someone who is shy?

Take it further

Make a hello poster in all the languages your class knows.
