Questions about fan art

Is it OK for kids to draw fan art?

Yes. Copying favorite characters is how many cartoonists learned to draw. Fan art is great practice; just don’t sell drawings of characters someone else owns.

How do kids learn to draw cartoon characters?

Pause the video after each step and copy just that part. Most characters start with a head shape and guide lines, then the eyes, then the details.

Are these official tutorials?

No. They are unofficial fan art lessons by Kevin Coulston and are not connected to the companies that own these characters.

What age are the fan art lessons for?

Kids about 6 and up can follow the videos by pausing after each step. Younger kids do well drawing alongside a grown-up.

Can I print or share the fan art drawings?

Kids can draw and share their own fan art for fun. Please don’t sell drawings of characters someone else owns.
