What kids do

“Pick one character and draw them four times. Change only the face.”

  1. Happy
  2. Worried
  3. Grumpy
  4. Proud
  5. A time I felt one of these feelings was…

How to run it

  • Warm up: everyone makes each face in a mirror (or at a partner) before drawing.
  • Point out the three things that change a face: eyebrows, eyes and mouth.
  • Funny faces and food monsters both work well as the character.

Talk about it

  • Which part of the face changed the most?
  • How can you tell a friend feels worried?
  • What could you do for someone who looks grumpy?

Take it further

Add a fifth box for a feeling the class chooses: surprised, silly, shy or brave.
