What kids do

“This monster’s favorite food is worries. The more it eats, the lighter you feel!”

  1. Draw your worry monster (give it a big mouth!)
  2. Its name:
  3. A worry I’m feeding it:
  4. Something that makes my worry smaller:

How to run it

  • Keep it light: the monster is friendly and always hungry.
  • Kids can write a worry on a slip and fold it if they prefer privacy.
  • Follow up quietly with any child whose worry needs a grown-up.

Talk about it

  • What do worries feel like in your body?
  • Does saying a worry out loud make it smaller?
  • What helps when a friend is worried?

Take it further

Build a worry monster box from a tissue box for the classroom.
