What kids do

“Feeling left out is no fun. What helps, and how can you help others?”

  1. What feeling left out looks like
  2. It feels like…
  3. Things I can do
  4. Ways I can include someone
  5. Words I can say to join in: “Can I…”

How to run it

  • Keep it general: no names of classmates on the sheet.
  • Role-play asking to join a game.
  • Brainstorm “join-in” sentences together.

Talk about it

  • How can you tell if someone feels left out?
  • What would you want someone to do for you?
  • Is it okay to want to play alone sometimes?

Take it further

Make a “Come play with us!” card for the classroom.
