What kids do

“A good compliment is true and specific. Make a chain of five!”

  1. To · My compliment (say exactly what you noticed)
  2. Draw someone getting your compliment
  3. A compliment I got that I still remember:
  4. How did giving them feel?

How to run it

  • Compare “nice shirt” with “you always let people join your game.”
  • Make sure every child gets at least one compliment: assign names if needed.
  • Cut the lines into strips and loop them into a paper chain.

Talk about it

  • Why do specific compliments feel better?
  • Is it hard to accept a compliment?
  • Who could use a compliment today?

Take it further

Hang the class chain across the room and add to it every week.
