Kids practice
feelings vocabulary, color and mood, self-expression

What kids do

“If feelings had colors, what would they be?”

  1. Color each box
  2. Draw a picture using only my color for today

How to run it

  • There are no wrong colors: ask why, not what.
  • Compare the class’s choices for the same feeling.
  • Have crayons ready for the color column.

Talk about it

  • Did everyone pick the same color for happy?
  • How do artists use color to show feelings?
  • What color is our classroom today?

Take it further

Color one of your drawings twice, once happy and once spooky, and compare.
