What kids do

“Hibernate, migrate or adapt? Sort the animals!”

  1. Hibernate (sleep)
  2. Migrate (travel)
  3. Adapt (stay and cope)
  4. Animals I sorted
  5. If I were an animal, in winter I would…

How to run it

  • Teach the three words with actions: sleep, fly, bundle up.
  • Bears, geese and foxes are good examples.
  • Let kids research one surprising animal.

Talk about it

  • Which strategy would you choose?
  • Why do birds fly south?
  • How do people adapt to winter?

Take it further

Draw a cozy den for a hibernating animal.
