What kids do

“Stir it in. Does it vanish or stay?”

  1. Predict, stir, record
  2. Draw the cups after one minute
  3. Would warm water change it? My guess:

How to run it

  • Use the same amount of water and the same number of stirs for each.
  • Clear cups make it easy to see.
  • Try warm water as a second test.

Talk about it

  • Where did the sugar go?
  • Can you get the salt back out?
  • Why did the sand sink?

Take it further

Leave the salt water out for a few days. What’s left?
