What kids do

“Measure circles and discover a number that never ends!”

  1. Measure with string and a ruler
  2. Draw a round food for Pi Day
  3. What I noticed about my answers:

How to run it

  • Wrap string around a lid, cup or plate, then lay it on a ruler.
  • A calculator is fine for the last column.
  • Answers should all land near 3.14.

Talk about it

  • Why are the answers almost the same?
  • Why is it called Pi Day?
  • Where do you see circles every day?

Take it further

Find the biggest circle in your home and measure it.
