What kids do

“Put a dot on the horizon. Every line on the road runs toward that dot!”

  1. Horizon line, one dot, and a road that runs to it
  2. What happens to things as they get close to the dot?

How to run it

  • Draw the horizon line about halfway down, with one dot on it.
  • Use a ruler for road edges that start wide at the bottom and meet at the dot.
  • Add posts or trees that get shorter as they get closer to the dot.

Talk about it

  • Why do the road edges meet?
  • Where do you see this in real life?
  • What else could you add: a train track? a hallway?

Take it further

Draw a hallway in one-point perspective with doors on both sides.
