What kids do

“Even numbers make pairs. Odd numbers have one left over! Draw your monsters.”

  1. Even monster (even number of eyes)
  2. Odd monster (odd number of legs)
  3. Count them
  4. How I know a number is even:

How to run it

  • Pair up the eyes with lines to check: any left over?
  • Use numbers up to 10 or 20.
  • Make a class monster parade sorted into odd and even.

Talk about it

  • Is 0 odd or even?
  • What happens when you add two odd numbers?
  • Which monster is scarier?
