What kids do

“Decorate the first mitten. Make the second one match!”

  1. Mitten 1: my design
  2. Mitten 2: make it match
  3. My pattern is…

How to run it

  • Keep patterns simple: stripes, dots, zigzags.
  • Check each other’s mittens: do they really match?
  • Cut them out and hang them on a string.

Talk about it

  • How do you know they match?
  • Which pattern was hardest to copy?
  • What else comes in pairs?

Take it further

Swap with a partner: you design one, they match it.
