Printed on the sheet:

Teacher tip

Ask kids to put a check next to the words they felt this week.

How to use it

  • Make faces together in a mirror before the sheet: happy, sad, mad, surprised.
  • Remind kids that every feeling is okay; it is what we do with it that matters.
  • Keep finished sheets in an SEL folder so kids can look back on their growth.

Watch for

Kids who only use happy, sad and mad. Celebrate new words like frustrated, nervous and proud.

Talk about it

  • Can two people feel different things about the same moment?
  • Have you ever been in a moment like this? What happened?

Take it further

Start a daily feelings check-in with names on clothespins on a feelings chart.
