What kids do

“Stories get good when something goes wrong. Plan your uh-oh!”

  1. Who is in the story?
  2. Where are they?
  3. Uh-oh! What goes wrong?
  4. Who helps?
  5. How does it get fixed?

How to run it

  • Brainstorm everyday problems first: a lost shoe, a spilled drink, a pet that runs off.
  • Then make them bigger and sillier.
  • This plan becomes the outline for a full story or a comic.

Talk about it

  • Could the problem get even worse before it gets better?
  • Did the character fix it alone or with help?
  • How does the character feel at the end?

Take it further

Turn the plan into a three-panel comic.
