What kids do

“Heroes are better with a buddy. Draw both of them.”

  1. The hero
  2. The sidekick
  3. Hero’s name and power
  4. Sidekick’s name and power
  5. How do they help each other?

How to run it

  • Ask for a hero and sidekick who are very different: big and tiny, fast and slow, loud and quiet.
  • A pet, a robot or a talking sandwich all make great sidekicks.
  • Share a few pairs and let the class guess who is the hero.

Talk about it

  • Why do heroes in stories so often have a sidekick?
  • What would go wrong if the sidekick wasn’t there?
  • Which famous hero and sidekick do you know?

Take it further
