What kids do

“The days of the week start with a capital letter. Copy each one. Then finish the sentence.”

Teacher tip

Sing a days-of-the-week song first, then point out that every day name starts with a capital.

How to use it

  • Model each letter on the board, saying the strokes out loud (start at the top, pull down).
  • Have kids trace the letter in the air and on their palm before the pencil.
  • Give a minute at the end to reread the work out loud to a partner.

Watch for

Letters started from the bottom. Gently redirect to top-down strokes before habits set.

Talk about it

  • Which letter was the trickiest? Why?
  • Which sentence on your sheet are you proudest of? Why?

Take it further

Practice the same letters in a tray of sand, salt or shaving cream.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
