What kids do

“Ready, set, draw! You only get one minute for each box.”

  1. One minute each: a shoe, a cup, a hand, a chair, a pet, a plant
  2. What did you leave out to finish in time?

How to run it

  • Call out each object and start a one-minute timer.
  • Pencils down when the timer ends, finished or not.
  • Do this as a weekly warm-up and compare over time.

Talk about it

  • Which sketch do you like best?
  • Did speed make you braver?
  • What is the most important line in a shoe?

Take it further

Try 30-second sketches of the same six things.
