What kids do

“Nature loves patterns! Find spirals, stripes, spots and more.”

  1. Draw one pattern from nature in each card
  2. Why I think nature uses patterns:

How to run it

  • Ideas: snail shells, zebra stripes, honeycomb, pinecones, leaf veins.
  • Use photos if you can’t go outside.
  • Talk about what patterns are for.

Talk about it

  • Which pattern was most common?
  • Why might a zebra have stripes?
  • Where do you see hexagons?

Take it further

Make a pattern using leaves and sticks.
