What kids do

“A diamond poem grows wide, then shrinks, and changes on the way!”

  1. My diamond poem (center each line)
  2. The start
  3. The end

How to run it

  • Write one together: Day ➜ Night, or Summer ➜ Winter.
  • Lines 1 to 3 describe the start; 5 to 7 describe the opposite.
  • Line 4 is the turn: two words for each side.

Talk about it

  • Where does your poem change?
  • Which line was the hardest?
  • Does the shape help the meaning?

Take it further

Copy it out neatly in a diamond shape and decorate the edges.
