Character Passport

Invent a character and fill in their passport: photo, name, home, favorite food, superpower and biggest fear.

Kids practice
character development, details that matter, planning a story

What kids do

“Every great character needs a passport. Make one for a character you invent.”

  1. Passport photo
  2. About my character
  3. Biggest fear:
  4. Stamp: a place they have been
  5. Stamp: a place they want to go

How to run it

  • Show a real passport page (or a picture of one) first.
  • A character’s fear is the start of a story: what happens if they meet it?
  • Keep the passports for future writing lessons.

Talk about it

  • How does the fear change how the character acts?
  • Which detail makes your character feel real?
  • Who would your character be friends with?

Take it further

Use the passport to write a story where the character visits one of the stamp places.
