What kids do

“Pick a character and send them somewhere new. What happens?”

  1. My character:
  2. Where they go:
  3. 1. Beginning
  4. 2. Middle (the problem)
  5. 3. End
  6. Write a sentence for each box, or add speech bubbles.

How to run it

  • Read a short comic aloud and find the beginning, middle and end.
  • The middle box needs a problem: lost, stuck, too small, too hungry.
  • Kindergarten can tell the story out loud instead of writing.

Talk about it

  • What was the problem, and how was it fixed?
  • How do speech bubbles show who is talking?
  • What would happen in box 4?

Take it further

Add a fourth box, “The next day…”, on the back.
