What kids do

Printed on the sheet:

  1. A short-term goal can be done soon, in a day or a few weeks. A long-term goal takes months or even years, and many short-term goals help you get there.
  2. Circle Short-term or Long-term for each goal.

Teacher tip

Use a timeline on the board to show days, weeks, months and years.

How to use it

  • Check in on goals every Friday for a few minutes.
  • Let kids choose a school, home or fun goal.
  • Use it during morning meeting or right after recess, when the topic is fresh.

Watch for

Goals that are too big or too vague. Help kids make them specific.

Talk about it

  • How will you know you reached your goal?
  • How might someone else see it differently?

Take it further

Hold a goal celebration when kids reach theirs.
