What kids do

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Color the choices that help your body calm down. Put an X on the ones that don’t.
  2. My top calming choice at school:
  3. My top calming choice at home:

Teacher tip

Ask kids to circle their favorite calming choice to try first next time.

How to use it

  • Teach the strategy when kids are calm, so it is ready for big moments.
  • Use it after recess or before a test to settle the room.
  • Keep finished sheets in an SEL folder so kids can look back on their growth.

Watch for

Some kids don’t like closing their eyes. Let them look at the floor instead.

Talk about it

  • When could you use this at home?
  • How might someone else see it differently?

Take it further
