Beginning Sounds: First Letter 2
Twelve more of Kevin’s characters, from acorn to yeti. Say each name, listen for the first sound and write the letter that makes it.
The /z/ sound, as in zip: trace and write Z and z, find every z among look-alike letters, trace three z words (zap, zig, zoo) and draw something that starts with /z/.
“Say it, color it, trace it and write it. Then find every z, trace the z words and draw something that starts with /z/!”
Printed on the sheet:
Buzz like a bee for /z/. Draw the zig-zag in the air.
b, d, p and q mix-ups. Teach “bat before ball” for b: the line comes first.
Form the letter with playdough or pipe cleaners.
US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
Twelve more of Kevin’s characters, from acorn to yeti. Say each name, listen for the first sound and write the letter that makes it.
The same idea at the other end of the word: say each character’s name, listen for the last sound and write its letter. Robot ends in t, lion in n.
A second cut-and-glue sort: nine character pictures go under b, d or s by their first sound. b and d side by side, so kids look twice.
Big A to F on the left, small letters mixed up on the right: draw a line to match each pair, say its sound, then trace all 6 pairs.
