What kids do

“Count, answer the shape questions, trace and draw. Do one box at a time.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. 1. Count the stars.
  2. 2. How many sides does a triangle have?
  3. 3. How many corners does a square have?
  4. 5. Trace the shape words.
  5. 6. Draw a house with a square and a triangle. Add a circle sun.

Teacher tip

Put real shape blocks on each table so kids can count sides and corners with their fingers.

How to use it

  • Keep the format the same each day so kids work on their own.
  • Play quiet music while kids work to set a calm tone.
  • Introduce the sheet once, model it, then make it part of a routine so kids know what to expect.

Watch for

Problems kids miss every day. Those skills need a mini-lesson, not more practice.

Talk about it

  • How did you check your work?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?

Take it further

Collect the hardest questions and review them on Friday.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
