What kids do

“Everyone makes mistakes. A fix-it plan helps you make it right and choose differently next time.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. What happened, in order?
  2. How did it affect others?
  3. What can I do to make it right?
  4. What will I do next time?

Teacher tip

Focus on the repair step. Making it right is the part that changes behavior.

How to use it

  • Give the sheet only when the child is calm. Reflection does not work in the middle of big feelings.
  • Sit next to the student and talk it through, especially for younger kids.
  • Keep a stack of copies in a labeled tray so you can grab one without stopping the lesson.

Watch for

Students who write what they think you want to hear. Ask follow-up questions.

Talk about it

  • Who can help you with your plan?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?

Take it further

Check in a few days later to see how the plan is working.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
