What kids do

“Walk around the room. Find something that starts with each sound. Draw it in the box.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Something that starts with b
  2. Something that starts with m
  3. Something that starts with s
  4. Something that starts with t
  5. Something that starts with p
  6. Something that starts with c

Teacher tip

Have kids say the sound as they find each thing.

How to use it

  • Set clear boundaries for where kids can look.
  • Give a time limit and a signal for when to come back.
  • Use it as a center, an early finisher choice, an indoor recess activity or a sub day page.

Watch for

Kids who rush and do not look closely. Ask them to tell you about one find.

Talk about it

  • Where else could you find these things?
  • What was the trickiest part? How did you get past it?

Take it further

Send it home as a family hunt for the weekend.
