What kids do

“At recess, look for each thing on the playground. Check the box when you find it.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Draw your favorite thing to do at recess.

Teacher tip

Go over playground safety rules before kids start the hunt.

How to use it

  • Set clear boundaries for where kids can look.
  • Give a time limit and a signal for when to come back.
  • Let kids work with a partner so they talk through their thinking.

Watch for

Kids who rush and do not look closely. Ask them to tell you about one find.

Talk about it

  • What was the most surprising thing you found?
  • What strategy did you use?

Take it further

Send it home as a family hunt for the weekend.
