What kids do

“Use your senses! Find something for each box. Draw it, and write its name if you can.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Something you can hear
  2. Something that smells good
  3. Something soft to touch
  4. Something bumpy to touch
  5. Something shiny to see
  6. Something you like to taste

Teacher tip

Remind kids to only taste things a grown-up says are safe.

How to use it

  • Set clear boundaries for where kids can look.
  • Give a time limit and a signal for when to come back.
  • Keep a few copies in an early finisher bin so they are always ready.

Watch for

Kids who rush and do not look closely. Ask them to tell you about one find.

Talk about it

  • Where else could you find these things?
  • What was the trickiest part? How did you get past it?

Take it further

Send it home as a family hunt for the weekend.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
