What kids do

“Fold it, draw it, write it. Now you are an author too.”

  1. Fold the sheet into an 8-page book (see how to fold it).
  2. Design the front cover: a title, a picture and your name.
  3. Draw and write one part of the story on each page.
  4. Draw yourself and write about the author on the back.

How to run it

  • Follow the fold guide on the Make a mini-book page: it takes about three minutes.
  • Print single-sided. The upside-down pages are meant to be that way.
  • Little kids draw a page each; older kids add a sentence or two per page.

Talk about it

  • What did you put on the cover to make people want to read it?
  • Which page has the most exciting picture?
  • What did you write about yourself as the author?

Take it further

Make a class library box and lend your mini-books to each other.
