What kids do

“Say each tongue twister three times fast! Then copy it in your neatest writing.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Six slow snails slid south.
  2. Bob bakes big blue buns.
  3. Fred fed Ted red bread.
  4. Kim keeps kites in a kit.
  5. Draw the funniest tongue twister

Teacher tip

Let kids say each tongue twister three times fast before they copy it. The giggles help.

How to use it

  • Check pencil grip at the start, and keep the sheet tilted for comfort.
  • Keep sessions short: ten good minutes beats thirty tired ones.
  • Read the directions aloud so the sheet is about writing, not decoding the directions.

Watch for

Tight grips and sore hands. Try a pencil grip or a thicker pencil.

Talk about it

  • Which letter was the trickiest? Why?
  • Which sentence on your sheet are you proudest of? Why?

Take it further

Write the letters with a wet sponge on a chalkboard.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
