natural resources, sorting, cause and effect

What kids do

“Did nature make it, or did people? Sort them out!”

  1. Sort: rock, chair, apple, pencil, shell, T-shirt, cloud, cup
  2. Something in the room nature made
  3. Something in the room people made
  4. Something in the middle of the circles:

How to run it

  • Remind kids that people make things from nature: the chair was once a tree.
  • Some things fit in the middle: a garden, a paved path made of stone.
  • Do a room hunt for one of each.

Talk about it

  • Can people make something without nature?
  • Which natural thing do we use most?
  • How can we use natural things carefully?

Take it further

Go outside and draw three things nature made.
