What kids do

“Pick something ordinary. Give it eyes, a mouth and something to say!”

  1. My object:
  2. Draw it with a face. Write what it says in the speech bubble.
  3. What would its day be like?

How to run it

  • Model with a classroom object: “The stapler is tired of being squeezed.”
  • Ask what the object sees, hears and worries about.
  • Read a few aloud in the object’s voice.

Talk about it

  • Which object had the funniest complaint?
  • How do you show a feeling on an object’s face?
  • What would our classroom say about us?

Take it further

Write a conversation between two objects in the same room.
