What kids do

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Put your hand flat in the box and trace around it. On each finger, write or draw one thing you are good at. Then give yourself a high five!
  2. Trace your hand here.
  3. Trace the sentence.

Teacher tip

End with a real class high five.

How to use it

  • Say the affirmations out loud together, with a strong voice.
  • Let kids keep their finished sheet in their desk or folder.
  • Model your own answer first. Kids open up more when the grown-up goes first.

Watch for

Kids who struggle to name anything good about themselves. Help them with a specific example you have seen.

Talk about it

  • What is something you are proud of?
  • Have you ever been in a moment like this? What happened?

Take it further

Make an affirmation wall where kids add a sticky note about a classmate.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
