What kids do

“A right is something everyone should have. A responsibility is what we each do to protect it. Match each right with a responsibility.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. To be treated fairly
  2. To have our things respected
  3. Which responsibility is the hardest for you? What will help?

Teacher tip

Point out that every right comes with a responsibility, and talk about one pair at a time.

How to use it

  • Act out examples of following and not following each expectation.
  • Revisit expectations after long breaks and before special days.
  • Print it on colored paper so kids and helpers can spot it quickly.

Watch for

Expectations that look different at home. Talk about how rules change by place.

Talk about it

  • How do rules help everyone learn?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?
