What kids do

“Fill in the blanks to write your own morning message. Then draw a picture for it.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Good morning, friends!
  2. Draw a picture to go with your message.

Teacher tip

Let one student write the morning message each day and read it aloud to the class.

How to use it

  • Sit in a circle so everyone can see each other’s faces.
  • Keep it short: 15 to 20 minutes works for most classes.
  • Print it on colored paper so kids and helpers can spot it quickly.

Watch for

Kids who do not want to share. Let them pass and come back later.

Talk about it

  • How did it feel to be greeted by name?
  • Why do you think we use this in our classroom?

Take it further

Let kids take turns leading parts of the meeting.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
