What kids do

“Your teacher writes a skill on each line. Color a star each time you show you can do it. Three stars means you’ve got it!”

Teacher tip

Fill in the I can statements from your current unit.

How to use it

  • Keep trackers in a data folder kids can reach on their own.
  • Celebrate progress, not just finished goals.
  • Slide it into a sheet protector and use a dry-erase marker to reuse it all year.

Watch for

Goals that are too big. Break them into steps that can be reached in a week or two.

Talk about it

  • What helped you grow this week?
  • How can this help you be ready to learn?

Take it further

Set a class goal that everyone works toward together.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
