What kids do

“Your teacher writes a word under each star. Color the star when you can read the word fast!”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. I colored all my stars on:

Teacher tip

Fill in the words from your current sight word list.

How to use it

  • Keep trackers in a data folder kids can reach on their own.
  • Celebrate progress, not just finished goals.
  • Introduce the sheet once, model it, then make it part of a routine so kids know what to expect.

Watch for

Goals that are too big. Break them into steps that can be reached in a week or two.

Talk about it

  • What will you try next?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?

Take it further

Set a class goal that everyone works toward together.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
