What kids do

“The bus driver needs to keep everyone safe. Think about what happened and how to make the next ride better.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. What happened on the bus?
  2. The bus rule I forgot stay in my seat use a quiet voice keep things in my bag
  3. Why is this rule important?
  4. Who did it affect?
  5. Next time on the bus I will…

Teacher tip

Share the sheet with the bus driver so they know the student’s plan.

How to use it

  • Give the sheet only when the child is calm. Reflection does not work in the middle of big feelings.
  • Sit next to the student and talk it through, especially for younger kids.
  • Keep a stack of copies in a labeled tray so you can grab one without stopping the lesson.

Watch for

Students who write what they think you want to hear. Ask follow-up questions.

Talk about it

  • What could you try next time?
  • Why do you think we use this in our classroom?

Take it further

Check in a few days later to see how the plan is working.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
