What kids do

“One story, three endings. Which one wins?”

  1. My story so far (or use this one: A dragon moves in next door.)
  2. Happy ending
  3. Funny ending
  4. Surprise ending
  5. The ending I like best, and why:

How to run it

  • Good writers try more than one ending. This sheet shows how.
  • Kids can sketch quickly here; this is thinking, not final art.
  • Hold a class vote on one story’s three endings.

Talk about it

  • Which ending fits the character best?
  • Does a happy ending always mean the character gets what they want?
  • Which ending would make a sequel easiest?

Take it further

Write the full story with the winning ending.
