What kids do

“Take two animals and squish them into one brand-new creature.”

  1. Animal 1:
  2. Animal 2:
  3. Draw your mixed-up creature
  4. Name and where it lives
  5. Its special skill

How to run it

  • Write animals on slips of paper and let kids pull two from a cup.
  • Ask which part comes from each animal: head, body, tail, legs.
  • Squish the names together too: a tiger plus a whale is a twhale.

Talk about it

  • Which part of your creature is the most useful?
  • Where would it live, and why there?
  • What real animals already look like a mix?

Take it further

Make a field guide page for the creature: what it eats, how big it is and one fun fact.
