What kids do

“Hide your treasures. Then call out squares to find your partner’s!”

  1. My grid (label A–F across, 1–6 down)
  2. My guesses on their grid
  3. Guesses it took
  4. My search strategy:

How to run it

  • Use a 6 by 6 corner of each grid and label it.
  • Hide three treasures by drawing tiny pictures.
  • Say “hot” if a guess is next to a treasure.

Talk about it

  • Where did you hide your treasures?
  • What strategy found them fastest?
  • Where are coordinates used in real life?

Take it further

Make the treasures bigger, like boats that take up three squares.
