What kids do

“Learning sometimes feels like falling into a pit. How did you climb out?”

  1. Draw the pit, and you in it
  2. What helped me climb
  3. I got stuck when…
  4. At the top I felt…

How to run it

  • Introduce the learning pit idea: confusion comes before understanding.
  • Each rung is a strategy, like asking or trying again.
  • Celebrate time spent in the pit.

Talk about it

  • What does the pit feel like?
  • Which rung helped most?
  • Is the pit a bad place?

Take it further

Make a class ladder poster of climbing strategies.
