What kids do

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Circle the letter of the choice that would help most.
  2. 1. Mia feels mad because her block tower fell.
  3. 2. Leo feels lonely at recess.
  4. 3. Ana feels worried after a bad dream.

Teacher tip

Ask kids which helping choice they would pick for themselves.

How to use it

  • Make faces together in a mirror before the sheet: happy, sad, mad, surprised.
  • Remind kids that every feeling is okay; it is what we do with it that matters.
  • Read scenarios aloud for younger kids and let them answer with a drawing.

Watch for

Kids who only use happy, sad and mad. Celebrate new words like frustrated, nervous and proud.

Talk about it

  • What helps you when you feel this way?
  • Have you ever been in a moment like this? What happened?
