Words on this sheet

MonthSunMonTueWedThuFriSatsunnycloudyrainysnowywindystormy

Teacher tip

Pick a weather helper each day to draw the symbol. At the end of the month, count the sunny days together.

How to use it

  • Do the weather check at the same time every day so kids can compare.
  • Put a thermometer outside a window so kids can read the real temperature.
  • Start with a two-minute “I notice, I wonder” talk about the picture on the sheet.

Watch for

Weather and climate are different. Weather is today; climate is the usual pattern over many years.

Talk about it

  • How did the weather change this week?
  • What did you notice that surprised you?

Take it further

Compare your class weather data with the forecast on the news.
