What kids do

“You will lead your conference! Plan what to show your family, what you are proud of and what you are working on.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. Work I will show
  2. What it shows about me
  3. I am working on…
  4. My family can help me by…
  5. I practiced with a partner my work is in order
  6. I will look at my family
  7. I will ask “Any questions?”

Teacher tip

Have kids practice their conference with a partner before families come in.

How to use it

  • Help each student pick one goal that is small and clear.
  • Check in on goals once a week at the same time.
  • Slide it into a sheet protector and use a dry-erase marker to reuse it all year.

Watch for

Kids comparing scores with each other. Keep the focus on beating your own best.

Talk about it

  • What helped you grow this week?
  • How can this help you be ready to learn?
