What kids do

“Write down what you read each day and for how long. Add up your minutes at the end of the week.”

Teacher tip

Let kids count minutes or pages, whichever works better for their family.

How to use it

  • Explain the sheet to families at back-to-school night or in a note.
  • Keep the sheet in the same folder every day so kids know where to find it.
  • Keep a stack of copies in a labeled tray so you can grab one without stopping the lesson.

Watch for

Kids without support or a quiet place at home. Offer a time to finish at school.

Talk about it

  • Where is a good place to work at home?
  • How can this help you be ready to learn?
