What kids do

“Cut out the cards. Write a true, kind compliment to a classmate and hand it to them at morning meeting.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. I noticed that you…

Teacher tip

Model specific compliments, like “You helped me with my math,” instead of “You are nice.”

How to use it

  • Sit in a circle so everyone can see each other’s faces.
  • Keep it short: 15 to 20 minutes works for most classes.
  • Fill one in with the class the first time so kids see what a finished one looks like.

Watch for

Kids who do not want to share. Let them pass and come back later.

Talk about it

  • What could make our meeting better tomorrow?
  • What is one thing that went well this week?

Take it further

Let kids take turns leading parts of the meeting.

US Letter, prints well in black and white. Free for home and classroom use: print as many copies as you need.
