What kids do

“Cut out the cards. Play memory: a match is a subtraction fact and its answer.”

Printed on the sheet:

  1. How to play: cut out the cards and mix them up face down. Take turns flipping two. A match? Keep it and go again. The player with the most pairs wins.

Teacher tip

Let kids solve each fact before they look for the difference.

How to use it

  • Store each set in a labeled bag or envelope.
  • Start with fewer cards for younger players.
  • Slide it into a sheet protector so kids can play again with a dry-erase marker.

Watch for

Kids who do not wait their turn. Practice the routine first.

Talk about it

  • Which match was the hardest?
  • What would you change to make it harder?

Take it further

Play it as a quick whole-class game on the board.
